The Science BehindPersonal Comfort

Pressure imaging turns the way your body meets a mattress into something you can see. That visibility is what makes personalized support possible.

Body-mapped mattress with a pressure-sensing layer

How it works

Pressure Imaging, in Three Steps

  1. 01

    A sensing surface

A thin, flexible mat containing a dense grid of individual pressure sensors is placed on top of the mattress, without changing how it feels.

  2. 02

    A live pressure image

As you lie in your natural position, every sensor reports the pressure at its point and software renders the readings as a colour map in real time.

  3. 03

    An informed choice

Areas of concentrated or uneven pressure guide which mattress and pillow configuration is likely to suit your body and sleeping posture.

Powered by XSENSOR®

XSENSOR develops pressure imaging sensors and software used to visualize how a body’s weight is distributed across a surface. Its sleep and bedding solutions use thin, flexible sensor mats to capture this information.

RestMap uses XSENSOR technology as its technology partner to deliver body mapping sessions at our DHA, Lahore experience center. RestMap does not manufacture XSENSOR products.

What the Colours Mean

Each colour shows relative pressure between your body and the surface at that point.

  • Light contactThe surface is touching, but carrying little load.
  • ModerateEven, comfortable support — the goal for most of the body.
  • ElevatedMore load concentrated here; worth paying attention to.
  • ConcentratedPeak pressure, typically at the shoulder and hip.

Questions

Technology FAQ

More answers on our Support page.

What is body mapping for mattresses?

Body mapping for mattresses is the process of measuring and visualizing how your body’s weight is distributed when you lie down. A pressure-sensing layer captures where contact is light and where it is concentrated, so mattress support and comfort can be chosen around your body rather than by guesswork.

How does mattress pressure mapping work?

A thin, flexible sensor mat containing many individual pressure sensors is placed on top of a mattress. When you lie on it, each sensor reports the pressure at its point, and software renders the readings as a colour map. Cooler colours show lighter contact; warmer colours show areas of higher pressure, such as shoulders and hips.

Why is personalized mattress support important?

People differ in height, weight distribution, shape and preferred sleeping position, so the same mattress can feel very different from one person to the next. Personalized support means choosing a configuration around your own pressure pattern and posture, with the aim of a more comfortable, better-aligned night.

What is XSENSOR technology?

XSENSOR is a company that develops pressure imaging sensors and software. Its sleep and bedding solutions use thin, flexible sensor mats to visualize how a body’s weight is distributed across a mattress.
